Reconciliation - Islam, Democracy, and the West

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Leaders are always the focused personalities for the people. People follow and learn many things through their intellectual decisions. They are the voices of thousands and millions of people. People bond the rope of expectations from them. Thousands of leaders' were born and died; but only few leaves their mark of identity forever. Leaders like Quaid-e-Azam, Liaquat Ali Khan, Sir Aga Khan, Allama Iqbal, Sir Syed, etc., who is still alive today, believed in a better Pakistan and against all the odds and hardships stood their ground and helped pave the way for us. Out of these great leaders, one of the most daring and confident lady, who laid down her life for the better future of our country, was Muhatarmma Benazir Bhutto.

Ms. Bhutto was brutally assassinated on December 27, just weeks after she returned from eight years in ?migr?. She was not only the ray of hope for the people of Pakistan as a leader, but was also an intellect writer, whose writing was greatly inspired by most of the diplomats and International people. The much-anticipated and the most awaited new book by Late Benazir Bhutto - Reconciliation: Islam, Democracy, and the West - is released last week. She wrote this book to present the real effective image of Islam to the people with positive gesture. It is also believed that she made the last few edits to her book the day she died. Her long-time friend and adviser, Washington political consultant and lobbyist Mark A. Siegel, indicates that he collaborated on the manuscript.

In a new book released Tuesday, in New York, London and Islamabad, former Pakistani Prime Minister and slain opposition leader, Benazir Bhutto says she was optimistic about her return to Pakistan, but knew about the risks to her life. Ms. Bhutto says that she had been warned that four separate suicide bomber groups had been sent to kill her. But she was the most powerful lady, who, despite of having many threats, returned back, just for the people of Pakistan and for their rights.

After the death of Indra Gandhi, and Lady Diana, she was the person, people admired the most throughout the world. She was the queen of Pakistan. She wanted liberal democratic society, and in the result, our country has given her nothing. She was an intelligent politician. Although she was exiled for many years, but her heart and soul was attached to the people of pakistan which attracted her to come back, in order to be the voices of many innocents unheard.

Bhutto was the eldest child of former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, a Pakistani of Sindhi descent and Shia Muslim by faith, and Begum Nusrat Bhutto. She was the first woman elected to lead a Muslim state, having twice been Prime Minister of Pakistan (1988-1990; 1993-1996).

Bhutto was sworn in for the first time in 1988 at the age of 35, In 1993 Bhutto was re-elected but was again removed in 1996 on similar charges, this time by President Farooq Leghari. Bhutto went into self-imposed exile in Dubai in 1998. Bhutto returned to Pakistan on October 18, 2007, after reaching an understanding with President Pervez Musharraf.

In her book 'Reconciliation: Islam, Democracy and the West', Benazir Bhutto has revealed that dialogue between the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and President Pervez Musharraf's regime went on by fits and starts from the very outset of his rule but "these negotiations failed every time because I insisted on a road map to democracy."

"For the PPP it was essential that General Musharraf retire as the army chief of staff," she explains. Benazir's great regret appears to have been Musharraf's aversion to act on any of his promises.

"If Musharraf had fulfilled his promises, Pakistan could have had an orderly democratic transition, closing the chapter on military rule once and for all," she writes.

Benazir also reveals that she was in New York in August 2006 when Musharraf called her for the first time. "He asked for my support for a bill related to women's rights. I agreed, subject to a parliamentary committee's working out the details . . . The passage of the women's bill gave momentum to the process of negotiations, although deep suspicions existed." She writes that her first face-to-face meeting with Musharraf in the United Arab Emirates was "both long and cordial", and Musharraf's response to her political demands was positive. She writes that she told Musharraf to shed his uniform, ensure free, fair and transparent elections, lift ban on twice-elected prime ministers, drop charges against politicians and declare it publicly.

"Gen Musharraf's regime knew of the specific threats against me, including the names and numbers of those who planned to kill me. It also knew the names of others, including those in his own inner circle and in his party, who we believed were conspiring," Ms Bhutto wrote in the book.

She was assassinated on December 27, 2007, after departing a PPP rally in the Pakistani city of Rawalpindi, two weeks before the scheduled Pakistani general election of 2008 where she was a leading opposition candidate. She symbolized the unity of federation. Her charismatic appeal across the country was at its peak and she succeeded in inspiring millions of people in her public rallies during her election campaign. Her father was snoozed up by the brutal leader of Pakistan. The death and killing of her brothers Shahnawaz and Murtaza shows, that they were much popular, due to which government was not satisfied. Benazir intelligence transformed the PPP into a more liberal and social democratic party. She professed democratic values, abandoned anti social values and adopted the way of humanism. She always practiced pluralism. On her death, regardless of ethnic or political dividism, the whole nation is beating its chest in grief. Her magnetic appeal depsote of many rivals in politics made it clear, that there was an element of leadership in her, which no one have. In her last rally at Liaquat Bagh, much in her father's mode she said: "Your country and my country is at risk. This government cannot handle this. We will defend it."

The most interesting part of Ms Bhutto's book is her issue with Samuel Huntington who wrote in his book "Clash of Civilizations" that a disagreement between the "West and militant Islam" was predictable after the Cold War was resolved.

Ms Bhutto asserts in the book that the West cannot treat conflict with the Islamic world as inevitable.

The former prime minister writes that she hoped to be a catalyst for change in bringing democracy to Pakistan. She also calls for a reconciliation of Islam with democratic principles, despite opposition from extremists.

Her assassination has left a great void that cannot be filled since it takes decades to build an international icon of her, but the PPP people are showing great unity and trying to move ahead as it was the mission of bibi to move for the democratic country. For us, she has become immortal. I pay my tribute to the great lady and icon of democratic society.

She was an International icon and role models for many womens. Her courage, bravery, talent, leadership qualities can not be revived without her.

This book is an indispensable bounty for all the people.

Think Tanks - A Historical Record of the Reality and Brains Behind the Game

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Recently, an acquaintance of mind mentioned that Think Tanks historically have had a great deal of impact on policy making decisions in Washington DC, especially when it comes to the strategic defense of our country. Indeed, that is rather hard to deny and it is good to have the top thinkers of our time supporting our common goal to have the strongest defense on the planet. Without that we really do not have any guarantee that our great nation can continue. Without a strong military and defense our political clout, political will, and our diplomacy issues will not be taken seriously.

In any case, since I have not told you anything that you probably didn't already know or hadn't previously contemplated, my acquaintance did remind me of a rather interesting book to read, one which I own and it sits in my personal business library in my home. The name of the book, one which you may wish to read yourself if these things interest you is:

"Think Tanks" with a rather lengthy subtitle "An inside report on the remarkable idea factories - from pioneering Rand Corp to Herman Kahn's Hudson Institute to Robert Hutchins' pundit-harboring Center for Democratic Institutions to Nader's Raders, with a host of cerebral super-markets in between - that have made the brains business America's newest and perhaps most fateful, industry" by Paul Dickerson, published by Atheneum, New York, NY, (1971), pages 370, Library of Congress Card Catalogue # 71-16293.

As the Founder of a Think Tank, which operates online, I understand what the author was getting at, and see why his hard-hitting view and admonishment of the Industrial Military Complex was so pointed. He did serve in the US Navy, and thus, understands at least some of the game - today he's an older gentleman with some 55-books under his wings.

This book; "Think Tanks" (the author's first book) is a nice picture in time of the 1960s and 1970s, and it warns of the their power to move mountains and influence our leadership. It's a worthy read, and so maybe I'll recommend it to my acquaintance to consider in his quest to use brains to focus the brawn of our military. Please consider all this.

Setting the Political Record Straight - A Book That Takes You From Left to Right

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Every once in a while a good book comes along that sets the political record straight and helps us understand what is nothing more than media driven political rhetoric, or political opposition attacks. The book I'd like to recommend has a red cover with a little smiley face, which has a Hitler mustache. If that isn't enough to shock you into thinking, I'm not sure what would. The book is called:

"Liberal Fascism; the Secret History of the American Left from Mussolini to the Politics of Meaning" by Jonas Goldberg; Doubleday Broadway Publishing Group division of Random House; New York, NY; 2008. ISBN: 978-0-385-51184-1.

The first chapter completely sets the record straight on Mussolini, and the second chapter gives a historical account of Adolph Hitler. In the Third Chapter Goldberg discusses the concept of "it couldn't happen here," and explains how it was. He goes into a full account of Woodrow Wilson's rise to power and political exploits once in power.

Chapter 4 explains how Franklin Roosevelt's "New Deal" was a Fascist New Deal in reality. In chapter 5 you'll get a totally different historical account of the 1960's movement, while in chapter 6, you'll find yourself quite alarmed at the Kennedy myths. He also shows how the "liberal agenda" works to turn the nation into a god and nationalism into a religion, which makes for a particularly interesting conversation and dialogue in the book

Another interesting set of contentions is put forth in the chapter on eugenics, and how the "liberals" in the US support such concepts, as did Hitler; the author also weaves in, the abortion issues to these talks. Still, I found the chapter entitled; "Liberal Fascist Economics" the most interesting perhaps due to the current economic challenges we face. The direction of our government in the economic system of the US is completely troubling and so similar to past fascist, communist, and socialist governments of the past, all of which have failed by the way.

Everyone should read the author's sub chapter on the "Fascist Bargain" when it comes to business and government uniting and promoting each other. And the very important sub-chapter; "The Liberal Fascist Bargain," all this is absolutely true and scary to the core.

You might like to read the chapters on the Clintons; "Brave New Village," as well as the new age chapter entitled; "The New Age: We Are All Fascists Now!" there is a sub-chapter called "Hollywood Fascists" that is very interesting, perhaps should be read by anyone awestruck by Hollywood Movie Stars telling them how to vote. The author concludes with the reality that many conservatives fail to realize how far they've been coaxed towards fascism and what they can do to resist it in the future. I think you will enjoy this book, or hate it, depending on your political persuasion.

Politics As Usual and the Move Towards Socialism

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Politics is like a drug for society as it is the catalyst, as well as the sound and fury of mankind and his slow progression. Some say that politics is no way to run the human race or our civilization, yet others swear by their leaders, who often enough turn out to be complete hypocrites. Just when you think you have found an honest politician, low and behold we learn that they are not what they purport or the media allows us to believe.

Still, whether you like the idea of the political process or not, and yes, admittedly it has a lot to be desired; it is how we do things here. And so, it makes sense to be informed about our leaders and know what's really going on behind the publicity stunts, political strategists and barrage of mass media advertising. It is for this very reason that I feel compelled to offer you a recommendation for a very good book to help you sort things out and not be fooled by the fa?ade:

"Do As I Say, Not as I Do; Profiles in Liberal Hypocrisy" by Peter Schweizer; 2005 by Random House New York.

This author also wrote the bestselling book; "The Bushes and Reagan's War." This book has chapters of some of the leading Democrats that are involved in modern day US politics. People such as the Clintons, George Soros, Nancy Peloci, Barbara Streisand, Edward Kennedy, Al Franken, Michael Moore, Noam Chomsky, Gloria Steinem, and Cornel West. Once you read about some of the reality behind these larger than life celebrities and their true exploits it will leave you shaking your heads and running for higher ground.

Rising, Falling, Hovering - Dynamic and Creative Poetry!

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Certainly, it was a rare opportunity for me to have met Professor C.D. Wright in person during her visit to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She is the famed award winning poet and esteemed English professor from Brown University. Being able to speak face to face with such a brilliant and inspiring person and listening to her poetry recital all in one day is really uplifting. Furthermore, receiving an autographed copy of her book, Rising, Falling, Hovering, is like having your choice of ice cream on top of a birthday cake.

Professor Wright has certainly produced a master piece with the writing of this award winning book of poems, Rising, Falling, Hovering. This is a dynamic and captivating poetry book in many ways. First and foremost, it's packed with poetic brilliance and an "awe" in exclamation regarding the compilation and flow of poetic images to stimulate the mind, body and soul. Next, the architecture of the poems in this book stimulates the sense of sight in terms of their variations and how they motivate the reader to produce imaginary poetic thoughts. Finally, based on the awards this book has won so far, one could say, "It's a majestic literary edition of our time and age."

The comparative analysis in the poems, Like Having a Light at Your Back You Can't See but You Can Still Feel, on pages four and seventy-one, is very interesting in terms of content and tonality. The additional syllables in the latter enhances the vibrancy of the lines. Have you ever told your wife, "Honey will you turn the lights off so I can get some sleep?" You will find an allusion of such in this poem and it's really hilarious and real. It also reads like a movie scene.

Additionally, Like a Prisoner of Soft Words on pages forty-six and seven-seven, equally presents a moving and dynamic poetic contrast with an array of anaphoric lines. The use of action words in the poems enhances the interpretation of the projected images while moving the lines as the words impact the senses. For example: "We suspect someone has followed one or the other of us," and "We dropped some cash on the tablecloth," lend curiosity to the imaginative spirit in contrasting the two poems.

Rising, Falling, Hovering presents a historical sketch covering a spectrum of scenes including: Mexico, cancer, war, Washingtonians, linguistic array of words, military operations, Egypt, South America, news reporting, funerals, and many other interesting and intriguing topics. The scenes are very interesting and appealing to the senses in one way, shape or form. The is really some emotional stuff; it's very striking, yet humorous in some ways without an oxymoronic essence.

On the other hand, the book is balanced with humor. I laughed out loud upon reading the poem regarding "Aisle 13 of Wal-Mart" and the person in the reptile section while sitting in a public place. I was laughing so hard the people started looking at me. I showed them the cover of the book and told them, "Get your own copy!"

This book is packed with: irony, alliteration, inversion, metaphor, simile, extended analogy, comparison, temporal setting, poetic style, enjambment, dramatic structure, figurative language and the rest.

Joseph S. Spence, Sr. (aka "Epulaeryu Master"), is the author of "The Awakened One Poetics" (2009), which is published in seven different languages. He also co-authored two poetry books, "A Trilogy of Poetry, Prose and Thoughts for the Mind, Body and Soul" (2005), and "Trilogy Moments for the Mind, Body and Soul," (2006). He invented the Epulaeryu poetry form, which focuses on succulent cuisines. Joseph is a Goodwill Ambassador for the state of Arkansas. He has completed over twenty years of service with the U.S. Army.

Best Political Books

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

I feel it's time for me to speak up and be counted.  At sixty-three years on our planet now, I figure better late than never.  It's still a free country, I do believe, and that's what I am very concerned about -  the future of our nation.

I've created , over  time,  my best political books library.   I use "political" in very broad sense.  For example, economics, social issues, current events, history, as well as politics, etc.,  all these would be included under my term "political."

Recently, I read  Glenn Beck's  Common Sense, The Case Against an Out-of-Control Government.  Glenn states that his book was inspired by Thomas Paine, who wrote the original Common Sense in 1776, which, for sure,  I have in my best political books library.    Included in Glenn's book at the end, is a copy of Thomas Paine's Common Sense, a good deal - getting two books in one.

Glenn reports on how the present government is out of control and what we must do to take our country back.  He reports on what both parties have done to undermine our freedoms and concludes with:

"The time has come for a second American Revolution -----bring your passion, but leave your muskets at home.  This revolution will take place in our minds and hearts...This revolution will be won when Americans rebel against the lies that are being told by those in power..."

I believe Glenn Beck is a true Patriot, and is bringing a very important message to us at this time.  It's  "we the people"  that have the power, and must realize this and must take our country back from the politicians that do not have our best interest at heart or our children and grandchildren's best interest at heart.

I have read  Glenn's book and try to watch him on a daily basis, his program is on the Fox News Channel every afternoon.  I highly recommend everyone tune into his program and get a copy of his book Common Sense, it's a must read.

Another book that I have recently read  is Catastrophe, by Dick Morris and Eileen McGann.

"How Obama, Congress, and the special interests are transforming...a slump into a crash, freedom into socialism, and disaster into a Catastrophe...and how to fight back."

Another book in my best political books library that needs to be read by every American.  I have placed Catastrophe as well as Fleeced, another book by Dick Morris and Eileen McGann, in my library.

Tom Noffsinger a.k.a Liberty Tom, is a concerned American citizen and has decided it's time to make some comments on our country we live in. For more information go to:
